A. High School Admissions: If a student is currently in Grade 12 or has just completed high school, they are defined as a High School Student. A High School student must meet all the below requirements to be considered for admission: a. Students must meet ONE of the following criteria: i. Alberta high school diploma, verified by transcript. ii. non-Alberta equivalent. iii. Successful completion of the General Equivalency Diploma. b. Also, students must: i. Pass the admissions interview. ii. Demonstrate necessary computer knowledge/skills (assessed during an admissions interview). iii. Provide a clear criminal background check, including vulnerable sectors check, before beginning their practicum placement. B. Mature Student Admission: A mature student is any applicant who is over 18 years of age and does not hold a high school diploma. A mature student must meet ALL of the following requirements to be considered for the program: a. Be 18 years or older when they submit their application. b. Has been out of high school for at least one year. c. Meets the English requirements through ONE of the following: i. Completion of English 30-1 OR ii. Passing mark of 16 on the Heritage College Entrance Wonderlic Exam. In addition to the above qualifications, students whose first language is not English and who have not attained a high school diploma or equivalent within Canada must meet ONE of the following language criteria: i. CLB level 6 minimum. ii.Complete English 30-1. iii.Minimum score of 4.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS). iv. Minimum Score of 32 on TOEFL. v. Complete the Heritage College Language Exam. vi. Provide transcripts demonstrating at least one year (two semesters) of secondary education or one year of post-secondary/private college education in which English was the language of instruction.
