Languages In Teacher Education Scholarship
Sponsored by: This scholarship was created by an endowment to the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund to build capacity in the area of language education. Purpose: This program is designed to reward Alberta students enrolled in a recognized Alberta teacher preparation program taking courses that will allow them to teach languages other than English in Alberta schools.

Recipients must intend to teach in Alberta schools upon completion of their program.
Recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to receive it a second time. Selection: Recipients will be selected by their post-secondary institution. Each post-secondary will manage their award allocation. Institutions will select students who meet the eligibility criteria and are currently taking or completing an Alberta teacher preparation program that will allow them to become a language teacher after they graduate. Institutions will use academic performance to select their nominees and make every effort to nominate candidates reflecting a cross-section of languages, including Aboriginal languages.
